Calendonia is an exquisite public golf course. Sitting next to the Waccamaw River the site of this course was once a rice plantation. The plantation was then transferred into a private fishing and hunting retreat. As one might guess because of the river and the natural habitat in the area, this course has exceptional vistas. Designed by Mike Strantz this 18-hole course features wide open fairways, and large, undulating greens. Water hazards and sand bunkers both come into play on this course. One of the major draws to this course is the clubhouse that is an authentic replication of a colonial plantation house from the 1700's. Calendonia is a first-class facility that has both terrific sights and a champion design.
